Ralon Violette

Dr. Staci Mayer, Maricopa OBGYN

How long have you been a patient of this practice? Over 12 years

Can you tell us a little about your family? I am married to the most wonderful, supportive and funny man ever! Jimmy Carmody is his name! He and I were neighbors and friends in college at the University of Arizona back in 1989. This year, we will be married for 10 years. (In 1990, I married my 1st husband Andy Brucker and had my first born Austin Brucker in 1992, he is now 19. We divorced in 1994.).

We have two children, my older son is 19 and his name is Austin, He is a freshman at ASU in Tempe, he lives at home, loves weight lifting, mountain biking, he is Eagle Scout and works at Applebee’s. Although Jimmy is not Austin’s dad, Jim and Austin are GREAT friends and love watching movies, playing guitar and spend time riding in our mg midget.

Our younger son is Aidan Carmody, age 8. He is in 3rd grade in the Madison school district. He loves all sports, including jumping on the trampoline, playing soccer, basketball and swimming.

We are very family oriented and spend a good portion of our weekends with my parents who live in Fountain Hills and Jimmy’s parents who live in Tucson. We have extended family on the East coast in Connecticut and New York where I grew up. I have two sisters, Osena and Ivy, who I am really close to. Yes, I am the middle child.

Do you own any pets? If so, what kind and what are their names? We have three cats! One old orange tabby named Barni who has been with our family for close to 15 years. He is the king at our house. We also have two kittens – PO like PO the Panda and Murphy. They are nine months old and brothers. We adopted them in September 2011. They are sweet, cuddly and they stick together. Barni is not overly thrilled that they are in our house, but he makes it known by growling or swatting at the kittens when they get too close.

Do you play any instruments? If so, what kind and how long have you played?

Absolutely not musically inclined at all.

What languages do you speak? I took French in high school and college, but have not practiced it. I am of French and Irish decent, yet we do not practice the language, so therefore it is lost.

Do you have any hobbies? Swimming is my first love! I grew up by the pool (indoor) in Connecticut. My sisters and I went through beginner lessons as early as age 4 and worked our way up through all the levels at a family run swim school. Once we completed the intermediate levels, we were asked to be part of the synchronized swim team along with becoming swim instructors and lifeguards. Throughout middle school and high school we traveled the country with our synchronized swim team, winning regional swim meets and even qualifying for national swim meets and Olympic Trials. We all kept our summer jobs running the swim school in Connecticut and teaching lessons. My sisters and I traveled to Tucson for college because the University of Arizona had a world-renowned synchronized swim team. Throughout college, I swam both synchronized swimming and, during my freshman year, I also swam speed swimming. During my junior and senior years, I became a coach for a synchronized swimming club team while finishing my undergraduate degree. Swimming is still very much a part of my world. I teach swim lessons during my summers to my kids and their friends.

Within the last year, I have also picked up hiking and love hiking up Piestwa peak 3-5 times weekly. It is a challenge, yet so rewarding! Other hobbies include planning family visits, Disneyland trips, pool fun and eating!

What is your favorite movie? Any Disney movie or romantic comedy. I love “How to Train your Dragon,” “Monsters, Inc.” and “Dirty Dancing.”

What is your favorite book? How Pretty Changes

What is your favorite food? Lobster from Maine and Blueberry pie… any pie!

Do you have a favorite quote or motto? “Always have a plan B.. as 99% of the time plan B becomes plan A”
