Where did you attend medical school?

University of South Florida

How long have you been in Arizona?

I’ve been in Arizona and with New Horizons since 1991.

What do you enjoy the most about your field of medicine?

We are able to develop long-term relationships with patients and their families. We are given the privilege to participate in very special moments in people’s lives. It is generally a “happy” specialty. I enjoy being in the operating room.

Can you tell us a little about your family?

My wife is named Renee. We met in junior high school at age 12 and have been married for 28 years. We have two kids: Michael, 23, lives in LA as a photographer. David, 19, is currently in college at Belmont University in Nashville, studying Commercial Music and Audio Engineering Technology.

Do you own any pets?

We own an African Grey parrot named Rico, who formerly resided in our original office. Currently looking for a dog.

Do you play any instruments? If so, what kind and how long have you played?

Trumpet – haven’t played for years, and I tinker on the guitar.

What languages do you speak?

Spanish, very little Russian.

Do you have any hobbies?

I ski, play basketball, mountain bike, go on medical missions, coach lacrosse for Chandler High School, and am the founder and President of Positive Impact, a 501c(3) nonprofit company helping families in crisis in Arizona.
