A Sweet Treat to Ring in the New Year

While we don’t generally recommend having too much sugar in your diet, an occasional treat is part of the holiday season and these sweet treats are so simple and so delicious.

From our family to yours, enjoy!

A Sweet Treat to Ring in the New YearSecret Kiss Cookies

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • ½ cup sugar
  • I tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • I cup walnuts, chopped fine
  • 1 (5 ½ oz.) package milk chocolate kisses
  • Confectioner’s sugar

Beat butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add flour and nuts; beat on low speed until well blended. Chill dough (a very important step!). Remove foil from kisses (also an important step). Heat oven to 375°. Using about 1 tablespoon dought, shape around kiss, and roll to make a ball. Cover kiss completely. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 12 minutes, or until the cookies are set but not brown. Cool slightly and then remove to a wire rack. While still warm, roll cookies in confectioner’s sugar. Cool completely. Store in a tightly covered container. Roll in confectioner’s sugar again before serving. Should yield about 40 cookies.
